WHERE ART THOU?

Text: Genesis 3:1-24

Genesis 3:10 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?

Gen 3:10  And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.

From the above scriptural text we discovered that man fell into sin. It is not that God did not know that man had fallen, but that He wanted man to realize the error of his way and repent. Also to prove to man that even though he has fallen He will still continue to look for him, look after him and that He has not given up on him.

In verse ten of our text Adam only recognizes his nakedness instead of realizing his sin and fallen state and he was afraid instead of repenting. The same things happens to so many Christians today they only realizes the result of their errors instead of recognizing the root cause of their fallen state and deal with it from the source through genuine repentance.

The same question God asked Adam is the same question He is asking you "where art thou?".

Have you fallen from grace? Have you given up on righteousness and holiness? Have you given up of genuine and fervent prayer and supplication? Have you given up on preaching the gospel from a burning desire solely to win souls for Christ without seeking reward and praise of men? Have you given up on follow-up and visitation out of a pure heart? Have you given up on fleeing all appearances of evil?

"where art thou?"

Are you not cumbersome with activities from Sunday to Saturday? Do you still have time for personal prayer and fasting apart from the general ones? Are you not blinded by your position in the church that you have lost your position in the presence of God? Are you not gradually involved in church politics instead of disciplining souls?

"where art thou?"

Are you not gradually compromising your faith? The things that matters to you when you first gave your life to Christ do they still matter today? Is hypocrisy not gradually eaten the very fabric of your christian foundation? Has your appearance not replaced true inward holiness, righteousness, sobriety and true humility of Christs' follower?

"where art thou?"

Do you find it very convenient to slander, gossip and backbite even fellow believers? Do you easily judge people now instead of praying for them and confront them with the absolute aim of winning them back to Christ? Are you critical of everything around you? Do you ever seek to see any good in anyone? Are you glad to be in the presence of God?

"where art thou?"

Do you still believe in miracles? Do you still absolutely believe the Bible? Is Jesus your perfect example or your pastor? Do you still hold on to the doctrine of your denomination above the doctrines of the Bible? Do you still hear and receive daily from the throne of grace? When last where you led by the Holy Spirit? I your life still fresh spiritually or flushed, drained and dried? Is your life a channel of blessing? Do others still see Jesus in you? Do you preach letters or do you preach the word from His presence?

"where art thou?"

It is not too late to come back to the Lord.
Rev 2:1  Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks;
Rev 2:2  I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:
Rev 2:3  And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted.
Rev 2:4  Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.
Rev 2:5  Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent

If you have missed your way, you can come back unto Christ before it is too late. He will forgive your sins, He will heal your past and He will secure your future here on earth and in that which is to come. Say these prayer from a sincere heart:

"Lord Jesus I know I have gone astray and have disappointed you, I now realize the errors of my ways and sincerely turned from all my sins and surrender my life afresh unto you. Accept me just as I am, forgive my sins, restore me back unto yourself and endue me with grace to live the rest of my life for you from this day forward in Jesus name. Amen".
